I'm a pet owner and I know it’s stressful to entrust the care of your precious family member to someone else.
So why would you choose me?
I'm a pet owner and I know it’s stressful to entrust the care of your precious family member to someone else.
So why would you choose me?
All the pets in my care will be treated as if they were my own and will receive first class care and lots of affection.
Their safety and happiness are my priority.
I provide all the pet care services personally, working to high standards of care.
I share my life with my much loved cats.
Frank and Gabe arrived separately as unwanted strays. After testing the staff and the facilities they decided to move in with us. They gained access to regular food, fuss and health care and they both "put up" with being adored and catered for ever since!
Flick was inherited from an elderly Cat Client who could no longer stay in her own home so Flick came to live with us!
Depsite all the love and care, all 3 of my cats have had serious health issues to contend with:
Frank
In 2013 Frank was diagnosed with Uveitis, a chronic eye condition that required daily drops and steroid pills but he was very forgiving! He eventually went blind in his right eye as a result of the condition. He regularly travelled to see his ophthalmology vet, David Habin at Paragon Referrals in Wakefield.
In 2018 he was diagnosed with Enthesopathy (tennis elbow) in his front legs and received regular laser therapy for pain relief until the pandemic started. He was on daily doses of Gabapentin until May 2022 when he started a monthly Solensia injuction. Solensia contains monoclonal antibodies that target his arthritic disease molecules and provide him with relief from his pain.
In 2020 he was diagnosed with Hyperthyroidism and received a cure for the condition by having Radioactive Iodine Treatment at the Hyperthyroid Cat Centre in Wetherby.
In 2021 he was diagnosed with Mast Cell cancer in his Duodenum and we made the difficult decision not to risk a surgical treatment as he was not as strong as he used to be. The surgery would be very invasive with a long recovery. He was doing well and eating normally right up to March 2025. He developed anaemia and following rigourous testing and support from Holly House Vets we discovered his tumour was causing some internal bleeding. Before he became distressed and critically ill we decided he would be put to sleep at home. We asked for help from the amazing Em at www.peacefulpetfarewells.co.uk who gave him the most relaxed and peaceful death. This is what we promised him and Em ensured we kept our promise. He was on his favourite bed with us holding him right to the end.
On March 20th 2025 he died knowing he was loved. He was our world and we miss him more than I can say.
Gabe
Our mischevious Gabe was diagnosed with Lymphoma in February 2017. After 4 months of chemotherapy and outstanding care at the brilliant Holly House Vets he died peacefully at home with us on 19th May 2017.
He was the bravest, funniest boy in the world and is very much missed.
Flick
In October 2017 Flick arrived. She was a 17 year old Leeds Feline Friends foster cat. I'd been visiting her every day for over a year because her elderly foster carer needed assistance to care for her and maintain their relationship. Unfortunately her fosterer had to move into an elderly care home so poor Flick found herself alone. There was never any doubt that she was moving in with us! She settled in very well, found the facilities to her liking and enjoyed having Frank as her companion! By the age of 21 she had kidney problems and high blood pressure so she had daily medication and ate a renal diet but she still played a lot and loved life!
Her battle with her renal issues and her old age finally took their toll on her and we had to make the heartbreaking decision to have her put to sleep on 26th April 2021. She died peacefully at home with the assistance of cloud9vets.co.uk who offer an at home euthanasia service. Covid restrictions made it impossible for her own local vet to come to our home so we had to find someone who could. Their service allowed for a dignified and sensitive end to Flick's life, all in the peace and comfort of her own home. She knew she was loved and she'll always be missed - a very special girl who made us laugh and slept with us every night...
Other important stuff to know!
I was a weekly volunteer dog walker at Dogs Trust Leeds from 2012 to 2020.
This was a real privilege and gave me the opportunity to walk many different dogs of all ages, breeds and sizes. The dedicated staff trusted me to walk unsupervised and off site in the surrounding woodland areas.
I have relevant pet care qualifications and regularly pursue ongoing professional training - see the list above..
I passionately believe in, and have been trained to use Positive Reinforcement techniques with animals. No pet in my care will ever receive punishment-based harsh treatment. With dogs I won’t use choke chains, prong collars, aversive sprays or any aggressive or “dominance” style methods. These are all scientifically proven to be harmful to dogs as well as very damaging to their relationship with humans.
I’m fully insured with Cliverton, a specialist Pet Sitting & Dog Walking insurance company.
This includes Public Liability; Animal Care, Custody and Control and Key cover.
I comply with Data Protection principles and keep all your personal details and property keys safe. I will also never pass on your details to third parties.
I have a clean DBS check. Having previously worked with vulnerable women and children for 20 years, my DBS check is an Enhanced, rather than a Basic check, hopefully giving you greater peace of mind.
I have a dog friendly vehicle to transport dogs in safety.
I’ve been driving for over 25 years and hold a full clean driving license.
I'll provide you with regular updates of your pet’s care and adventures so that you’ll know what they’ve been up to in your absence.
I’m reliable, trustworthy and friendly and I’ll always try to be flexible.
Most of all, I'll put the needs of your pet first!
